Rittenhouse Square Park Proposal in Philadelphia PA

Rittenhouse Square Engagement Session

Rittenhouse Square Park is a favorite Philadelphia location for locals and visitors alike to stroll through or sit and enjoy a cup of coffee from La Colombe, eat a soft serve ice cream from 1-900-icecream, or read a book.  It is located between 17th and 18th streets and between Walnut Street and Rittenhouse Square. Many events are hosted here, from the weekly Rittenhouse Square farmers market on Saturdays to yearly art shows. It is a classic location and a hub for all ages. This Philadelphia park was also where this couple had their sweet marriage proposal. It was the best location for these two and the moment was a complete surprise! It’s a popular location for proposals, and it is included in my blog post about the best locations for a marriage proposal in Philadelphia. When doing your research about photo locations for engagements, you are likely to see Rittenhouse Park on many recommendation lists.

Park Proposal Moment In Philadelphia

The moment was finally here! He got down on one knee on a Saturday morning in June near a bench that was sentimental to them in their relationship. I love it when couples get engaged at Philadelphia locations that have a history and special meaning to them. I started taking photos as soon as he got down on one knee and was kneeling before her to ask for her hand in marriage. It was such a sweet moment, and she literally jumped for joy when he asked that question. They hugged and kissed and soaked in the magic moment in the middle of the park. They admired the engagement ring together, and the excitement, shock, and love seemed to linger in the air.

Best Philadelphia Parks to propose in

Rittenhouse Square Park is one of the best parks in Philadelphia to propose in. It has lots of different areas for photos, all within a square block. There is lots of greenery in the summer and some interesting architecture on the surrounding buildings. I love the park benches, the fountain, and the paths to wander down. Some other pretty parks include the 18th-century Garden in Old City, Love Park in Center City, FDR Park in South Philly, and the Wissahickon Valley Park. Philadelphia really does have a wide variety of Parks. There is even a rooftop Park, Cire Green, with amazing Philadelphia skyline views. Parks can hold such special memories and be woven into our everyday lives. Walking the dogs in the park or yoga in the park, summer movies in the park, or concerts in the park. They can be a beautiful location for a proposal and engagement session. Consider a park when thinking about which location to choose for your special moment.

How to Propose in Rittenhouse Park

Decide on your location and what you want the backdrop to be. Rittenhouse Square Park is one square block, so you will have to pick the exact location to pop the question and get down on one knee. Do you want to have foliage as the background? Do you want to be right in the middle of the park? Or perhaps at one of the entrances at the corner of the park? Pick your time of day. Keep in mind that weekends are often busier. If you want to go at a quieter time, the morning could be better, but when you are in a public, bustling location like this park, part of the fun can be the people around.

Proposal Photos in Rittenhouse Park

After the actually marriage proposal moment happens, we then start with a couple’s photos mini session to get some great photos of the newly engaged couple around the park. I had the couple hop up on top of the wall in the center of the park, pose on one of the park benches, stroll hand and hand down the walkway and enjoy this memorable moment together. We crossed the street to include some of the architectural features of the buildings around the park and capture some more of the essence of the neighborhood. It really was a sweet summer city photo session!
