This Cira Green Rooftop Proposal was so much fun! Did you know that there is a rooftop park in Philadelphia that boasts some of the best skyline views in the city? This private park is open to the public and has stunning panoramic views. Perhaps even the best skyline views in the city that you can access for free. There is something both awe-inspiring and romantic about being able to view the city this way. Located in University City at 129 South 30th Street, 19104. You will see a small green sign there that says “Cira Green” but it can be easy to miss if you are not looking for it. You enter there into the parking garage and you will see elevators on your left. You take the elevator up to the 11th floor and then walk up the last floor to the rooftop. It is open 7 days a week: Sunday – Monday 7 am – 9 pm, Tuesday – Thursday 7 am – 10 pm, and Friday and Saturday 7 am – 11 pm. They have all kinds of activities there, from movie nights to open-air yoga. My favorite thing about it is the city park is the views. You get such expansive views of the city skyline, and you can see the Schuylkill River stretching out before you. The clear wall on the edge of the park makes it ideal for photos and a view like none other. To check the hours and all the details, you can visit their website at www.ciragreen.com as the hours it is open may change seasonally or at the discretion of the management, and it’s always best to get the most up-to-date information right from the source.

This proposal was so much fun. The shock and excitement on her face when he asked her the question “Will you marry me?” was beautiful to witness. After the actual down-on-one-knee moment, we took couples photos to comemorate the special occasion. This was not the first time this couple had been to the city rooftop. Cira Green rooftop park is actually also where he asked her to be his girlfriend. How absolutely perfect that he took her back to the same place to ask her to be his wife! It adds an extra special feeling when a location is picked because it means something to their story as a couple. After about 20 minutes of couple’s photos, the couple’s family came to surprise them. It was definitely a sweet and joyful moment to see the parents and siblings elated and cheering as they walked up to the newly engaged couple. There were lots of hugs and congratulations. A few relatives who couldn’t be there in person were on FaceTime to join the excitement. We took some formal photos of the families before I left them to continue their celebration together.

As a Philadelphia proposal photographer in Philadelphia, I have had the chance to photograph these special moments all over the city, and I often get asked the question, What are your favorite places for a proposal in the city? It is actually a hard question to answer because there are so many wonderful places and each location is special for different reasons. But if you are looking for skyline views of Philadelphia, Cira Green is often a place that I recommend checking out. This elevated urban park in West Philadelphia’s Schuylkill Yards is a destination for a view of the city. Because it is a public place, there are often people enjoying the space. If you are hoping for fewer people around, then I would recommend choosing the morning for your proposal. This may give you a better chance of there being fewer people around. After a morning proposal, a champagne brunch in the city may be in order!
Many locations throughout the city require that you have a permit to take photos there. Luckily, Cira Green Park does not require a photo permit. This makes planning a proposal there pretty straightforward and easy to do. The two question marks are checking to see what is any activities might be planned there during your proposal time. The second thing to keep an eye on is the weather. This proposal was actually a bit of a nail-biter because during this session, the weather apps were saying a chance of rain. Thankfully, the skies did not open up during their proposal, and we were able to do all the photos they had hoped for with the beautiful backdrop of the Philadelphia skyline.

Philadelphia does have a beautiful skyline. If you are curious about other locations with a skyline view, here are a few more ideas for you to look into:
