Alana & Stephen had a wonderful wedding along the Delaware River at The Black Bass Hotel. The venue is a picturesque and charming historic inn. The natural beauty and the delicious, fresh food make this venue a true delight!
Alana & Stephen first came across the venue when they visited because their friends had their wedding there. They decided to check it out for dinner, fell in love with the area and surroundings, and asked about hosting our wedding there that same night. When you know, you know!
Alana & Stephen opted to go with a “first look” on their wedding day. They chose to see each other before the ceremony and do all their formal photos upfront, allowing them to attend and enjoy their cocktail hour and spend more time with their guests. I love this impressive bridge for their first look moment!
Alana shares their proposal story!
“We met at Gettysburg College, both Stephen and I majored in Physics. We did not date in college, we actually didn’t start dating until a couple of years after. For the proposal, we were in Gettysburg, visiting the campus for our annual trip to the town where we met and Steve wrote a beautiful card that ended with the words “And one more question…” then he got on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
There is so much history and charm at this venue and in the summertime, it is out in all its natural floral glory.
Tucked away there is the sweetest spot for outside ceremonies situated next to a quiet reflecting pond. Alana & Stephen had a harp player for their ceremony bringing the magic of the moment to life with the music.
Their cocktail hour and reception were on the water’s edge overlooking the Delaware River. Full of heartfelt speeches by friends and family, lots of laughter and so much love they celebrated their sacred union.

I love their advice for couples who are in the wedding planning process!
“Remember that at the end of the day it’s not about the wedding, it’s about taking the next step with your favorite person. So who cares if all the suits match.”
