This wedding at The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs was the perfect Sunday brunch wedding! Janelle and Bret chose their venue because they love the history of the Philadelphia area and Pennsylvania overall, and the Historic Yellow Springs is an absolutely gorgeous venue! They loved all of the trees, the ruins, and the rustic setting. The Washington has 4 location options for the ceremony (including one indoors) and both a bridal and groom’s suite onsite.
Bret and Jonelle are from completely different parts of the country, Buffalo, NY and Nebraska. They wanted to show a great symbol of their lives joining together, so they decide to do a tree planting as part of the ceremony with soil from each of their hometowns. Bret grew up on farm and they included a few soy beans from his family’s land as well.
Their outdoor ceremony was so pretty! The greenery, gardens and stone wall made the perfect backdrop for their guests to gather and witness their vows.
Janelle and Bret both love to run so having DIY centerpieces made as race bibs meant a lot to them. Janelle has a wonderful running blog, Run with No Regrets, that follows her journey as a runner and shares tips and insight for others with the same passion. Bret proposed during a run to the Wissahickon while they were training for a half marathon – he took them on a different route, leading the way, then raced ahead and when Janelle met up with him, he was down on one knee! I love that they included personal touches to their day that celebrate them as a couple. For their entrance into the reception, they even ran through a finish line – what a great entrance!
This couple’s first date was brunch at a beer bar in West Philly, so it was fitting that their wedding day was also an amazing spread of delicious brunch! Perfect Setting Catering did an outstanding job!
“Think about what’s really important to you on your wedding day. Don’t get obsessed over little details or imperfections that in the long run, no one will even notice! If you plan your wedding without a planner (like I did), seek as much help from your family/friends as possible and make sure you make the time to have fun and enjoy the fruits of your labor on the big day! And don’t let social media pressure you into doing certain things that don’t fit your personality or vision.”
