This Kimberton Inn wedding was just perfect! From the outside ceremony on the picturesque lawn to cocktails and dinner inside the historic space. The Kimberton Inn is warm and welcoming and the food is delicious! This bride and groom have been very well acquainted with the venue for many years before their wedding day because Julia’s parents have worked at the Kimberton Inn most of her life. Many of Julia’s birthdays have been celebrated here as well as special family occasions. It’s also happens to be Julia’s favorite restaurant(and I can understand why!). How wonderful to be able to say your “I do” at a place that has special meaning not only for you as a couple, but also for the whole family.
One very sweet element of their wedding ceremony at the Kimberton Inn was when Julia walked down the aisle to her soon-to-be husband, a special song was played. “You Are a Flower”(pictured below) an original song written by Julia’s father for her on her 8th birthday. Talk about teary and sentimental! I love these incredibly meaningful moments that can be woven into a wedding day. This one was a surprise and it was a moving experience watching her walk down the aisle ushered to the alter by her father’s music.
The bride and groom both got ready at the Kimberton Inn. It offers a lovely space for getting ready and honestly, it makes the whole day more relaxing to get ready, have the ceremony, and the reception all in the same location, especially when it’s as delightful as the Kimberton Inn. The bride got ready upstairs which gave her plenty of room and plenty of privacy to put on her dress, veil, shoes and wedding jewelry. Once she was all ready for the day we headed outside into the summer afternoon for the bride and groom to see each other for the first time.
The bride and groom decided to have a “first look” where they would see each other before their ceremony. This way they could do their couples photos before the ceremony, giving them more time to enjoy the company of their guests during cocktail hour. Wedding days can be such a whirlwind and seem to go by in the blink of an eye. Any way that you can preserve more time with your guests and enjoy the party that you have put so much time and energy to create the better in my opinion. I love the look of surprise and delight when the couple sees each other for the first time. There is so much excitement and build-up to this moment. The nerves before you walk down the aisle can creep in, but seeing each other can settle those nerves and help the couple relax and remember why they are really there that day, for each other!
The grounds at the Kimberton Inn in the summer are lush and green. There are grassy locations for couples photos that give a garden feel and its wonderful to not have to travel to a separate location for photos on a wedding day.
What an appealing space for an outside ceremony. The side of the inn has a grassy lawn that faces a wooded grove. It feels private and perfect for a wedding ceremony on a summer day. Luckly we had good weather on their wedding day, though it was hot, there wasn’t a cloud in sight. I love the flow of moving to different spaces for various parts of the day. The summery garden feel of the ceremony was exactly what the couples was hoping for. Then inside for cocktails and air conditioning 🙂
Inside the Kimberton Inn, you will find well-preserved historic charm. There are many different dining areas for the restaurant and that is where their cocktail hour was held on this wedding day. It felt cozy and intimate for guests to gather in different spaces to chat and cheers. Then for the formal sit-down dinner portion of the day, guests headed into the banquet hall for the first dance, parent dances, and many joyful and heart-warming wedding speeches from friends and family. Dinner was served and the food was superb. You can’t beat freshly made bread and the seasonal cuisine.
After dinner, the bride and groom cut their wedding cake. This is a fun wedding tradition and let’s be honest who doesn’t love cake? After cake was cut it was time to get on the dance floor.
Typically I offer an “end of the night” couples photo before I wrap up photos for the day. Usually this is an after-dark photo where I take the couple outside with a few lights and do some moody nighttime photos. For this wedding day it was still daylight when I left so we decided to head right outside the venue to get a photo of the couple on the front steps. It can be nice to step out of the reception, take a few photos, get some fresh air, and a moment for just the two of you to sneak away together to have a kiss before heading back inside.
