Wedding Venue: Power Plant Productions
Wedding Vibe: fall, elegant, city chic
Color Palette: black and white
This wedding could be summed up in one word “fun!”. Honestly, the bride didn’t stop smiling all day and her energy was contagious! What a truly magical wedding day full of joy and excitement.
Sarah and Sergio’s love for the city of Philadelphia was present throughout their wedding. The main color palette for the wedding was white and black but small pops of color could be seen all throughout the day. I especially loved their wedding invitations which featured a watercolor painting of the Philadelphia skyline to set the tone for the evening.
When asked about their wedding theme, the bride shared:
“Our concept for our wedding is “City Chic,” a modern city wedding with a black and white color scheme that pays tribute to city night with bright white lights and dark skies.”
And what better place to have your wedding than the city of brotherly love!
The bride’s wedding dress was an absolute showstopper! All of the elegant details on the dress provided a perfect dazzel of sparkle for her big day. An important part of Sarah and Sergio’s day was to incorporate their loved ones. Sarah’s mom gave her a pin from her grandmother that she was able to use as her something borrow and something blue to go on her bouquet.
It was really important to this couple to incorporate their loved ones in their celebration all throughout their wedding day. After getting ready with her mom, Sarah was able to share a special first look moment with her dad and brothers. I just love the glow of excitement on all of their faces!
The Marriott in Old City Philadelphia has an extremely elegant feeling that was a perfect place for this couple to get ready. In the lobby of the hotel, there is a great “Library” Room, a perfect spot for a few photos of the groom! Right down the road from Penn’s Landing, this hotel is a great place for couples looking to incorporate the historic side of Philadelphia.
Down the street from the Philadelphia Marriott in Old City is one of my favorite first look locations, the 18th Century Garden. The lush greenery of the garden provides the backdrop; it’s a cozy area for an intimate moment with the bride and groom before their big day.
Near the hotel (Philadelphia Marriott Old City) where the bride and groom got ready was an amazing location, The Merchant Exchange. The historic architecture and elegant marble features of the building were the ideal location for photos to compliment their elegant wedding day.
Not only was The Merchant Exchange building in Old City the perfect spot for couple’s photos, it is also where we did the wedding party. The color fo the building allowed the black bridesmaid’s gowns and groomsmen’s suits to show off how wonderful they all looked together.
Having their wedding in Old City Philadelphia really provided this couple with a great opportunity to incorporate the city throughout their day. Just a few blocks from their wedding venue is this cool street view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, a classic Philadelphia scene!
Power Plant Productions is a great venue for a couple looking to have an elegant and intimate wedding surrounded by their loved ones. This loaction is a really versatile space and is the perfect place for subtle wedding day details.
When asked about the venue, Sarah said “We absolutely love Power Plant Productions. It has such a unique charm, and its historic characteristics pay tribute to the city we live in. The architectural elements made us really envision saying we do”
After saying ‘we do’, Sarah and Sergio celebrated with a rose petal toss which is a Persian wedding tradition.
One of the great things about Power Plant Productions was the versatility of the space, Sarah and Sergio were able to have both their ceremony and reception there. Three main themes ran throughout their entire day: fun, Philly and their loved ones. At their gift table, the couple chose to incorporate a tribute to those who were unable to be there with them for their special day by having photos of them at the gift table so they could watch over the fun.
Featured at their cocktail house was a specialty drink, the “Philly Special” perfectly on theme with their wedding day!
Love is in the air and the dances have begun! Sarah and Sergio shared a beautiful first dance with some of their guests looking on. After the first dance, Sarah shared a father/daughter dance, Sergio shared a mother/son dance and sweet and funny speeches were made by the Maid of Honor and Best Man.
The fun isn’t over yet, it’s time to party and if we know anything about Sarah and Sergio it’s that they love to have fun!
“Our favorite part of wedding planning was coming up with fun and creative ways for our guests to enjoy our celebration. Having an intimate wedding of 60 has given us the creative freedom to spend more energy on personalized moments. Having fun and energetic DJ to start the party is extremely important to set the vibe for the evening.”
All of that dancing sure can make you hungry, it was time to cut the cake. The couple got their wedding cake from The Sugary. I love their unique chocolate and fruit- covered cake!

Here is what this couple said about the wedding photography experience:
“Heidi was an absolute dream to work with!
From our initial conversation, she was extremely communicative, responsive, and professional. She prepared a seamless timeline and curated the perfect day for us. She kept us on track throughout our entire wedding day and was focused on getting the perfect photos while keeping things fun and loose. She understood our photography vision and goals and brought them to life!
We received our photos 18 days after our wedding and were absolutely over the moon with the quality and quantity of the photos. They are truly breathtaking photos and were overwhelmed with the amount we received.
We can’t possibly say enough great things about Heidi! Highly recommend this wonderful, professional, and extremely kind photographer.”
