Julie and Dan were able to put together an amazing, downsized backyard wedding. They had a perfect area set up for the ceremony in Julie’s parent’s back yard and we were able to take photos in the woods surrounding their home. Their tented reception was so welcoming and beautifully put together. It was a treat for friends and family to gather for their day!
Planning a wedding is always a process but planning during covid can add more twists and turns. This couple shares their journey and how they navigated their wedding planning:
“Planning and replanning our wedding during COVID was challenging! When we first started planning our wedding in 2019, the most important part for us, was to have a large celebration with all of our family and friends. In a venue, we wanted a ‘one-stop shop’ that we felt would give us the most time to enjoy the night with our guests.
When COVID hit, we had already booked the majority of our vendors. We had some incredible vendors who were flexible and willing to support us every step of the way. Even when our plans were changing on a weekly basis, they went above and beyond to accommodate and adapt with empathy.
As a couple who wanted to have a large wedding that would allow us to celebrate with everyone we love and care about, we really had to refocus our priorities. We spent countless hours thinking about our ‘plan B’ wedding which became a part-time job! We talked through what felt like a million different options, but we landed on a 25-person outdoor wedding in the backyard of Julie’s childhood home while sticking to our original wedding date. While we wish we could have had the ‘plan A’ wedding with all of our loved ones, we are so grateful that we were able to have a beautiful wedding day and we loved every minute!”
There were many elements that made the day very special, one of which is the location. Julie’s parents bought the land in 1989 where they built their home and raised their children. It is a place full of memories for the Salemno family, and adding our wedding to the list is really special. Another special element is Julie wore a watch from Dan’s mom’s family on the wedding day. It has been worn by the bride at nearly every family wedding through the generations!
While our wedding was small, the day was so full of love and life. It will forever be a reminder that even in the darkest of times, we will forever be grateful for the love and people that surround us.
