Jacquelyn and Philip had a beautiful outside ceremony at The Philadelphia Wedding Chapel in the East Falls section of Philadelphia. They were able to say their vows in an open-air atrium which was perfect for their style.
“Well, we initially wanted Philadelphia City Hall. We waited in line for City Hall, got the date we wanted, and then COVID hit. We waited until the Register of Wills called us to reschedule and they let us know, no more City Hall weddings. I was disappointed but Phil and I are pretty good at rallying. We looked up alternative venues and Philadelphia Wedding Chapel came up. We were happy to see that their exterior was an option during COVID. It had a lot of beautiful greenery and a city building look. We were able to find a cost-effective venue that gave us a city and garden feel. It ended being the best alternative!”
“We met the “new-fashioned” way: online through Ok Cupid. I had just moved to Philadelphia and Phil had already been here for about five years. He sent me a Prince lyric and I responded. That’s all it took!
We don’t really have a proposal story. We had been together for four years, living together for three and I would jokingly hound him to just propose. So he did. A couple of days before NYE 2019. No big formal proposal in public (my worst nightmare). Just on the couch watching something random he pulled out a ring. It was perfect for us.”
It is often the little things that become the most special. Jacquelyn found some sweet ways to include her family and bring beautiful and meaningful details to her wedding ceremony.
“The most special element of our wedding were the flowers. My grandmother made my bouquet, hairpiece, and Phil’s boutonnière. It was a nice family touch in our ceremony.
“We were a small party, but it didn’t feel small enough to go to a restaurant for an early dinner. We decided to order catering from a Brazilian restaurant and have dinner at our house. We got everyone individual champagne bottles and just had a small celebration at home.”
“I’m sure this has been said a million times before, but I think the most important thing to remember about your wedding is that it’s about you and your partner so don’t let yourselves get stressed out trying to please anyone else. Sometimes with weddings everyone feels they have a say, whether it be family or friends. Make this day how you want it and everything will turn out good, pandemic or not. “
