This Pocono Barn Wedding Venue was the perfect backdrop for Sarah & Chris’s amazing wedding day! Its rustic appeal and PA location fit just what they were looking for. Picking a wedding venue really sets the tone for your day!
Sarah’s details told the story of their day and their love of nature! From their “I love you to the mountains and back” ring dish to Chris’s wedding band beautifully etched with trees, you definitely know what is important to these two. They also included their dog Layla’s blue dog tag as their “something blue” as she recently had passed. What a sweet way to honor her memory.
Sarah shared a bit about how they made that decision to pick their wedding venue:
” When looking for a wedding venue, we wanted somewhere that felt like “us”. We both love nature, we love being on the water and surrounded by mountains and trees. I’ve always had a dream to get married on a lake in a cabin somewhere in the middle of nowhere. The other venues we saw, although beautiful, just felt too formal or stuffy. When we saw Memorytown, we knew right away it was the perfect place for us. Rustic but elegant, on the water with the reception in the beautiful barn. We loved that our family and friends could stay in cabins right on-site with us because celebrating with our friends and family is what the whole weekend is about.”
I love that they found the venue that they envisioned!
Sarah wore her grandmother’s veil which is almost 100 years old and has been worn by over 20 people in my family including her mom. How incredibly special!
“Chris and I met in 2008 when we both worked at a community center at a small gymnastics program run by Glen, who has become a very close family friend. I was 15 at the time, Chris was 16. We then started dating in May of 2009 and have been together ever since, including several years long distance while we were at different colleges.”
“Chris proposed on Christmas Eve of 2017. Christmas is my favorite holiday and the whole season is my favorite time of year. It is when we are all back in our home town and surrounded by family. Chris took me back to the community center where we met saying Glen wanted to take photos of us for his yearly Christmas Card. It was Chris and I, my sisters, his brother and sisters, and Glen. While taking a photo of Chris and I, Chris got down on one knee and popped the question! “
There are so many lovely places for photos at Memorytown! I loved the combination of blush and navy blue for their wedding colors.
“We really tried to include our families, friends and those who have helped us get to this point into our wedding day as possible. The only people standing up there with us were our siblings and friends who are like siblings. Our wedding was officiated by Glen, who ran the gymnastics program where we met and has been like another father or grandfather to us for all these years. My grandfather, who is a minister, will also be taking part in officiating.”
How incredible is the barn!? I love the lights and draped fabric, the roomy dancefloor, and the high ceilings.
“Everyone around you will have their own opinions and it’s easy to get swept up in having the “perfect pinterest wedding’, but make sure at the end of the day you stick with what feels right for you as a couple. Allow those around you to help, don’t be afraid to delegate – when people offer to help it’s because they really want to. Prioritize what is most important and be willing to compromise, so you can stick to your budget without sacrificing something you will really miss!”
