A traditional church ceremony, followed by a modern Renaissance Hotel Wedding reception. This couple combined historic and modern for their celebration! I love that they incorporated their personal passions, such as music, into their special day. Since they have an apartment right in the city, Brooklyn was able to get ready right in the comfort of their cozy apartment alongside her mom and sisters and their sweet pup!
Their ceremony was held at the beautiful St. Paul’s in the Italian Market. Brooklyn is the music director at this church, so it made perfect sense for them to celebrate their marriage in a place where congregants that has helped the bride and groom feel welcome since they moved to Philadelphia 3 years ago. Not only does the church have significant importance in their daily lives, but it is also just flat out stunning (it was built in 1843!)
For the ceremony, Brooklyn’s sister sang and her boss at Temple University is played the organ. Music is a huge part of Brooklyn and Vince’s lives, and it is incredibly meaningful to have family and friends bless them with their musical talents on their special day!
I don’t often get to do couples’ photos in the church, so this was a treat! It was especially meaningful because the church is central to both their lives and what a stunning church it is!
Second National Bank is right across the street from their reception venue and was the perfect stop for amazing outside photos of the newly married couple.
“We both went to music school at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI! We didn’t officially meet however until Vincent subbed in for a drum teacher at a private lesson school Brooklyn was teaching at. We had a free hour of no students to talk and connect, and the rest is history. A huge part of their lives is our dog Cleo, which we got together shortly after beginning to date. We’ve been through 2 years of long-distance dating and ended up moving to Philadelphia to continue our lives together.”
Their reception was an easy choice. They were excited to have a change from the traditional church venue to a more modern reception hall. The Renaissance Hotel just underwent massive renovations, and the decor fits their personalities and style perfectly. Plus since almost all of their guests are from out of town, it helps that the hotel is right in Old City and next to many historic sites. It makes it a perfect spot for guests to stay and enjoy their long weekend in the city.
