Wedding Venue: The Waterfall Catering and Special Events – Claymont, DE
Wedding Vibe: Disney theme, fairy-tale, elegant
Color Palette: dusty rose, pink, purple, sparkle
The Waterfall in Claymont DE was the ideal venue for Dominique and Chase’s wedding. It has a lovely outdoor ceremony space with majestic columns, a lush green lawn, and a brick pathway to walk down the aisle. There are so many wonderful vignettes outside to take classic bride and groom and wedding party photos including a flowing fountain and picturesque bridge. Inside the ballroom is contemporary and elegant and this couple transformed it into their fairy-tale event with subtle touches of the bride’s favorite place – Disney!
Dominique and her bridesmaids got ready in style with their lacey pink robes and fluffy, comfy slippers. There is nothing better than having your loved ones by your side when you are getting ready for your wedding day.
The bride and groom got ready for their wedding at the nearby Homewood Suites. Dominique did not skimp on details. There were lots of sparkles and shine and a mix of white and pinks for the invitation, jewelry, and tiara. Not only did she have a stunning classic wedding dress for her dream day, but she had an equally fun reception dress that she stepped out in during her dance floor fun!
Dominique and Chase decided to exchange gifts before they walked down the aisle. The wedding party delivered their respective gifts to each other so they could still be hidden away and keep their big reveal for when they walked down the aisle. Scroll down to see what they got each other!
Dominique and Chase decided not to do a first look and instead saw each other for the first time walking down the aisle. Before the wedding, we did individual portraits and photos of the bride and her bridesmaids and the groom and his groomsmen so we could use the last of the daylight for couples photos after their ceremony.
There is something so appealing about being outside for your wedding ceremony and their mid-September wedding was just the right temperature for enjoying the early fall day. The set up with crisp white chairs and bold columns up front made for an impressive ceremony.
One aspect I really appreciate about The Waterfall wedding venue is the outdoor garden space. Not every ballroom also has an outside area that is decored just for wedding photos. There are winding pathways and architectural and natural features that add flair to wedding day photos, perfect for bride and groom portraits. It was starting to get dark as we finished their photos so it was time to pull out a little extra lighting to capture the lovely couple’s portraits in the pretty twilight.
Dominique shares the story of how they met and what led them to their wedding day:
“He was my high school crush and on the basketball team and I was just a little nerd who just moved to the area and never in a million years would have thought he would be my boyfriend, never mind my husband! He reached out to me randomly on Facebook and ever since we have not left each other’s side. He proposed to me at the most magical place, Disney World, my absolute favorite place in the entire world.”
Since it was getting dark outside, the bridesmaids and groomsmen headed into the lobby while the guests were enjoying cocktail hour. The lobby at the Waterfall is quite large and impressive and is a wonderful space for photos once the sun has set.
True to her love for Disney, the wedding reception room decor was dreamy. The pink uplighting transformed the room and added a fantasy feel. Flickering candles and white floral bouquets adorned each table. Check out their Disney cake topper and Micky Mouse details on each plate. I love that Dominique added these fun touches that really personalized the Waterfall Ballroom.
DJ Q Events did an amazing job of making their first dance magical and memorable. The dancefloor at The Waterfall was filled with cloud-like smoke that gave an otherworldly, whimsical feel and the guests were mesmerized. What a fun way to elevate the first dance!
The toasts were touching and funny and all the while Dominique and Chase laughed and toasted together. I loved their sweetheart table and the cascading flower wall behind them.
The bride and groom decided to add just a little more sparkle and fun at the end of the night. They invited their guests to celebrate with them one last time in a sparkler send-off. What an awesome night for Dominique and Chase and The Waterfall was just the place for their wedding day celebration!

I am so happy and amazed with my wedding photos! Heidi and Heather are amazing. They both made sure everyone looked stunning in each photo. As the bride, Heidi directed me on how to position myself, and once I was in the right position and she got the shot she was envisioning. She made sure to compliment me and make me feel confident! Very professional, 10/10 recommend Heidi Roland Photography!
