This Yards Brewery reception in Philadelphia was full of fun, games and celebration! It was actually this couple’s wedding anniversary and a great reason to gather and rejoice together with loved ones. They rented out the upstairs room at Yards Brewing Company and had the private space all for themselves and their guests. Yards is a local Philly-based brewery that grew from a garage space into its current location with a tap room which is open daily, an event space and they even offer brewery tours! I will have to come back some other time for a tour of my own. What a fun non-traditional venue for a wedding anniversary party.
This couple decided to arrive early to their reception before their guests in order to get some photos together at Yards Brewery to commemorate their wedding anniversary. The Brewery boasts a modern, industrial space and they even allowed us to go into the brewing area (accompanied by staff of course) and we were able to get some really fun behind-the-scene couples photos in the brewery. It was a treat to be among the pallets of beer that reached practically to the ceiling and to take photos in front of the shiny brewing tanks. It’s always fun to be able to explore new places for photos and get a peek behind the curtain of the brewing process. I loved the colors, textures, and playfulness of these couple’s photos at Yards. This refreshingly different event space was just perfect for photos and we had an absolute blast taking pictures before the party started.
It only seems appropriate for the couple to be sipping on pints of beer while taking photos in front of the giant stacks of Yards brews! Now that is a lot of beer. These out-of-the-box couple’s photos were a delight and really captured the fun spirit of this loving couple for their Yards Brewing Company wedding anniversary.
This couple officially tied the knot a year before this party at a small ceremony at Spring Mill Cafe. Spring Mill Cafe is a charming French Bistro Restaurant in Conshohocken, PA with a separate small event space available for rent. It was a sweet, intimate, and fun gathering, so much fun in fact that the couple decided that wanted to do a part two and gather and celebrate with more of their friends and family at the Yards Brewery. I think they made the right decision.
They are not the first couple I have photographed recently who choose to do a smaller ceremony first and then a larger reception a bit later on. I can see the appeal of keeping a ceremony smaller and more intimate and then, at another time, hosting a reception party that has a larger guest list. It’s always good to have a reason to come together to celebrate love and connection.
We also popped outside the brewery for a few photos. It was a pleasant evening and always a good idea to head outside into the natural light to snap a few photos in the sunshine. Outside there were hanging café lights above the seating area and it seemed like a cute place for a photo or two. We stayed close to the venue since the guests were starting to arrive as we finished up taking photos. It was just about time to head upstairs to welcome everyone who was starting to gather.
The upstairs area of the brewery can be rented out for private events, weddings, and parties. It is a generous size room that can hold up to 120 guests seated or up to 200 for a cocktail-style event. This event space has its own bar to cater to the party guests and a cool view of the taproom and brewery from above. I appreciate unique wedding venues in Philadelphia and this event space was ideal for the gathering to celebrate their wedding anniversary. The long wooden farmhouse tables lend themselves to guests sitting, chatting and getting to know each other and the space is flexible enough that you can decorate it in so many different ways. You could keep it minimal or add your own flair. I loved the paper flowers this couple brought for table decorations.
Nothing goes better with beer than these salted soft pretzels! Perfect for snacking on while sipping a Yards Pale Ale. For their reception, they had an array of foods and beverages with the Yards beer selection offering guests many different varieties to taste.

“Heidi is a gem! My husband and I were having a small, non-traditional wedding – Heidi was so great to work with. She’s super organized and helped us clarify our timeline. She also was flexible on offering a custom package/price based on what we needed, instead of a full day of photography. She captured beautiful photos from our day. She also is so friendly, personable and a great, calming presence. Her turnaround time for delivering the finished photos was also so fast! Would absolutely recommend.”
