Nestled in the Germantown section of Philadelphia is a delightful nature sanctuary and public park. This 56-acre arboretum is also a wedding venue, Portico, and a delightful backdrop for a celebration. The Frances Cope House will welcome guests onto its wonderful wrap-around porch and a tented patio is all set up for the reception. With such a spacious outdoor landscape it is easy to enjoy this nature-filled venue.

Getting Ready at Frances Cope House

The bride and groom were both able to get ready for their wedding at the historic Frances Cope House right on the venue property. Just before they headed out for their first look, they read letters that they had written for each other. What a sweet gesture and keepsake from all the emotion and love felt on a wedding day!

Wedding Ceremony at Awbury Arboretum

Wedding ceremonies at Portico are always lovely with so many different outside locations to choose from. This bride and groom decided to use the back porch as their backdrop. With beautiful bouquets forming the archway and simple white chairs for their guests, it was the perfect set-up for their vow exchange. I loved that they had the West Philadelphia Orchestra played at their celebration. Live music always brings extra joy and energy!

The reception was held on the tented patio. Instead of numbers, each table was named after a favorite tree on their seating chart.

Celebrating Under the Stars

After dinner, their first dance was outside on the back porch at the same place their ceremony was. Friends and family joined in the joyful celebration. There was an inviting fire pit with smores and even a sweats truck with specialty donuts and ice cream!
