Laura and Dan’s wedding ceremony was cozy and full of love, even on this snowy Philadelphia day!
Laura shares how they chose their wedding venue:
“We thought that Vaux Studio offered an intimate setting that would allow us to have the ceremony we wanted with our immediate family and close friends. We have very large families and a large wedding (and the planning involved) never really appealed to me. We thought about Philadelphia City Hall but we wanted our parents and siblings there who lived out of town and city hall weddings were only during the week. We chose White Dog Cafe for our dinner venue because they offered a private room that was exactly the right size and we were allowed to order off the regular menu as opposed to a price fixe.”
I think this couple came up with a winning combination of personal and welcoming venues for the ceremony and reception!
Winter snow and cobblestone streets make for classic winter wedding photos! These two braved the elements to get some once in a lifetime photos!
Vaux is such a gem! It is the perfect venue to host a small wedding, elopement, or intimate gathering. Laura and Dan had their ceremony, cake, and a champagne toast at this modern center city venue before heading off for their restaurant reception.
“In planning a small wedding, initially, we got a lot of pushback from family and friends who lovingly wanted to celebrate with us as well as many who thought that we would eventually cave to the “big wedding” pressure, but once we made it clear that we were moving forward with planning and chose a venue and date people were very supportive. Hold tight to your convictions if it’s what you want to do! The most important thing is making sure that you do what makes you comfortable and happy. Also if you’re doing a wedding with less than 20 people and want a private room for dinner keep in mind that many places have a minimum which may not be reasonable for the group size.”
“We met on a blind date set up through a mutual friend. Dan proposed in our apartment with a scavenger hunt which I totally ignored initially and blew past to find him hiding in our spare bedroom! He had to redirect me to the beginning and point out the clues to me but eventually, we got there.”
