Stacey and Cory opted for Philadelphia City Hall Wedding Day Portrait Session. They had a courthouse wedding and wanted a few photos to commemorate this symbolic and beautiful start to a new chapter. Stacey shared a bit about her vision for her wedding and the sweet surprises she was greeted with at the ceremony!
This was both Cory and I second wedding. We really wanted a low key, intimate ceremony with our immediate family. City Hall was a perfect location. We also loved the architecture of the building and the old-time feel.
Cory was born in Philadelphia and raised just outside. I moved to the Philadelphia area 10 years ago from Wales, UK. We both love the city and regard it as home.
We started off our photo session at Love Park, which is right across the street from City Hall. In front of the Love Statue it a favorite location for photos!
The first gift Cory ever bought me was a ring looped through a chain. I wore it as a necklace for years. The band has my grandfather’s, who passed away, initials engraved on the inside with I love you engraved around the outside. He played a very important part in my life growing up. I decided to use this as my wedding band as it is very sentimental to me.
Another special moment that happened at the wedding – My mom and step-dad were supposed to fly in from Wales the day before the wedding. Their flight was delayed and they missed their connection. They managed to get a flight the day of the wedding into Philadelphia but we thought for sure they would miss the ceremony and just end up joining us for dinner. When I got to the front desk at City Hall before the ceremony, they were there! They had rushed through the airport and managed to get to City Hall just in time! I had no way of knowing they were there as their cell phones do not work internationally. It was a very special moment.
City Hall is such a beautiful structure inside and out. There are four archways that are great for outside photos with interesting architecture and dramatic lighting.
Research the requirements – it is not as easy as you think to get married at City Hall Philadelphia! We had to visit the office twice and then a third time to actually get married.
