It was such a treat to photograph Madison & Adam’s inspiring Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts wedding. What a stunning venue for photos and ceremony and reception.
Madison and Adam both got ready at the lovely Le Meridien. It is the ideal hotel for your PAFA wedding, conveniently located, and offers a wonderful atmosphere to get ready for your big day! I adored all of Madison’s details and I think we all fell in love with her wedding dress. She chose to wear her grandmother’s beaded gown which was fit her perfectly. Weddings are a rite of passage often a time to bring generations together. Including her grandmother’s dress on her wedding day was such a thoughtful and beautiful way to honor her family and walk down the aisle in style. Her is a link to the HuffPost feature where you can see images of her grandmother wearing the dress!
Their spring wedding was blessed with sunshine and we were able to do their sweet “first look” outside of PAFA, then wander through the galleries of the Art Museum for their couples portraits.
What a treat to explore PAFA galleries with Madison and Adam on their wedding day! The galleries and space are truly one of a kind, offer gorgeous backdrops and an exquisite aesthetic.
We took advantage of the beautiful weather and had their groomsmen and bridesmaids’ photos outside. We enjoyed the group photos and mixed up the formal with fun! Don’t you just love the bridesmaid’s cute skirt and top separates? This is a trend is I can get on board with. They opted to mix and match from BHLDN and they pair so nicely with the bride’s dress!
The Hamilton building offers a contemporary, light-filled space for your wedding ceremony and it was a fantastic choice for Madison and Adams service and vows.
How creative to incorporate books into the reception centerpieces! I enjoy seeing the original and personal touches in their decor.
Their day flowed beautifully. Their ceremony was followed by dinner and dancing and lots of love. What a truly joy-filled celebration!

I chatted with Madison to hear a little bit about their love story that brought them to their amazing Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts wedding and here is what she shared:
I was at a bar on U street in DC and ran into my friend Joel from Penn State who was in town visiting his friend from high school, Adam. Adam and I started talking, I invited him to a sketchy techo bar with some friends, exchanged numbers and the rest is history….it also turned out we had a lot of friends in common
Our real answer to this is probably not shareable……. the shareable answer is that for me that to be honest, I knew on our first date, not obviously but I had a feeling; for Adam, it was on our California trip before I left for graduate school; or when we were fighting about politics
One night on East Capitol street by the US Capitol, I had talked our way passed the two other spots he was considering and it was the last romantic spot before we got to dinner with our parents.
We broke up once because we weren’t communicating. Six months later, we hosted a Passover dinner together (as ex’s…..not advice I would give people btw); and then got back together and discussed what had gone wrong in round 1…. round two was much stronger because of it (still going strong)
SOOOO GORGEOUS

What a unique wedding…that dress is stunning!
This also is one of my favorite venues!
That’s so special that she wore her grandmother’s dress for the ceremony! And I love the groomsmen’s socks! 🙂
Heidi, your photographs are stunning! You captured their day beautifully. And, what a cool venue!!!
Nicely done! I love the way you made the bride and groom fit so perfectly into the scene. Also, that dress is a stunner!
That wedding dress is AMAZING! I love how unique it is! Also, your photo of the groomsmen with the newspapers and socks is perfect – this wedding looks like it was so much fun!
