Marrakech, Morocco / Mandy Sinclair – Marrakech Food Tour – an adventure in the Jemaa el-Fnaa

Marrakech food Adventure!

I had the pleasure of meeting the women behind the Marrakech food tour, Tasting Marrakech, Mandy Sinclair. I recently traveled to Morocco to photograph a wedding  and  I had a few days to explore Marrakech. While there, I was lucky enough to cross paths with Mandy. I visited Mandy in her super cool Marrakech apartment for an mini in-home session to capture her essence and style. Her abode is colorful and bold and offers and inspiring place to work and live. After sharing tea and her home-made peach bread, we took photos in her living space and outside terrace. Mandy is a Canadian living abroad in Marrakech, Morocco and specializes in PR, Media relations, writing, event planning and is one of those all around people in the know. She loves art, music and travel. Her space is a reflection of bold and curated style. Not only does she love to travel, be she is also an supreme host! She also offers visitors the chance to book a one-of-a-kind experience, Tasting Marrakech, walking you on a private tour through the wonders of the marketplace and tasting your way around the Jemaa el-Fnaa, the center square. At night the square comes alive with food stalls, music, games and storytellers. Mandy walks you on a Marrakech food tour and introduces you delicious foods of the city, for a sensory experience you will not soon forget! I am grateful for the adventurous evening the the marketplace with Mandy soaking in the sights and sounds and of course the tastes! We sipped Moroccan mint tea, which is amazingly refreshing even on hot days. We tasted olives. We visited food stalls and had a delicious traditional Moroccan soup, Harira. Harira is often eaten during Ramadan, but it is also served throughout the the year. We shared amazing lamb tangia which is slow-cooked in an earthenware urn and is a specialty of Marrakesh. I highly recommend this dish! We finished the night with sweets and more tea and storytelling, leaving me full and happy! There are many ways to explore the city, a Marrakech food tour is top on my list.

It’s amazing to me how even in the first few photos you can tell you’re not in the U.S. So much more color, depth, and culture. Thanks so much for sharing – sounds like an incredible trip!
