Black Bass Wedding Ceremony Lumberville, Pa

Black Bass Hotel Wedding

This Black Bass wedding ceremony was a true delight! The Black Bass Hotel is situated along the Delaware Canal in Lumberville, PA. This historic site has been around for over 200 years. One of the best parts of this venue is the water views from the outside patio where the reception was held. The views are incredible and there is such a peaceful feeling on the grounds.

Bride Getting Ready

The bride and groom both got ready right on-site at the Black Bass Hotel. The hotel has 9 rooms that can be rented out for the couple and other guests on the wedding day. This makes getting ready convenient and relaxing. There is not rushing from one place to another. It also makes getting back to your room at the end of the night easy after all the merriment.

Bride and Groom Cards

Carlie & Nick decided to write each others sweet cards that were exchanged during their getting ready time and before their first look. I love this idea! It’s amazing what a small gesture like this can mean on a wedding day!

First Look on the Bridge

The couple decided to do their first look on the bridge that crosses the Delaware Canal. What a pretty place for wedding day photos and for this special moment. There is always such magic in this moment of seeing each other for the first time all dressed and ready to go. The joy was overflowing!

The outside ceremony space at Black Bass Hotel features a pretty flagstone patio surrounded by trees and water. It is tucked away and feels special and peaceful.
Sometimes picking a wedding venue can feel overwhelming, how do you choose? Here is how this couple knew they found their wedding day venue:
“The Black Bass Hotel is a charming historic property overlooking the Delaware River. One weekend with perfect sunny weather we took a long drive up in Nick’s new car listening to the radio. We got out to walk up and down the pedestrian bridge and explore the area. Later when we had lunch at the Black Bass Hotel and it was downpouring and we still thought the venue was beautiful, we knew it was the one. We just wanted a smaller, low-key wedding with just under 50 guest so we could really take time to enjoy spending time with each other and the people closest to us. We were going for is simple, timeless – lots of white flowers and neutral colors. Nick loves the fall time and our wedding date is our dating anniversary of when we first met.”

How He Proposed

I always love to hear each couple’s unique story of their proposal moment. He is the story for this couple:

“Our proposal was Friday, June 10th, 2022 when we were on a family vacation in Maui, Hawaii. We were 6 days into our trip and Carlie was convinced that Nick was waiting to propose until the last day of the trip. 3 days before the last day of the trip, Carlie had her heart set on enjoying a day at the beach on the Northwest side of the island. That is until Nick strongly suggested Carlie repaint her chipped nails that day and was shielding her nails from the sand as he convinced her to paint them right then in her beach chair. Later that afternoon we drove up around the north side of the island – pulling off the road at every scenic overlook until Nick found the perfect spot near a picturesque green church overlooking Kahakuloa Bay where he popped the question.”

Strasburg Bakery Wedding Cake

Nick & Carlie had a classic wedding cake from Stadburg Bakery and matching cupcakes. I love the combo of cakes and cupcakes. Who says you can’t have both on your wedding day? They made the perfect combination of sweat treats for after dinner.

Night Couples Photo at Black Bass Hotel

Just as dusk was settling in we stepped outside and took a few night photos of the couple. The Black Bass has a cozy fire fit on the patio that makes an inviting location for a night photo. I love the deep blue of the sky as the sun starts to go down. Then we walked over the bridge where they had their first look earlier in the day and did a few more fun photos.

Couple’s Review

“I highly recommend working with Heidi for both wedding photography and engagement photos!

Heidi is extremely organized, responsive, professional, and thoughtful which she showed consistently from our initial phone call, emails throughout the months ahead, and in person the day of the wedding and engagement shoot. Her calm demeanor, attention to detail, and perfectly crafted timeline really allowed the day of the wedding to feel relaxed and move along seamlessly – with the most impressive results! She was able to capture every single image of friends, family, and the venue that I asked for, and many more. She made it look effortless. She has tons of knowledge and expertise and a great eye for light and location. It was a joy to have Heidi be a part of our wedding. She delivered our photos much quicker than I was expecting and they turned out amazing!”
