This Stoltzfus Homestead Wedding was wonderful! It was my first time at Stoltzfus Homestead and I already can’t wait to go back. What a welcoming venue with lovingly restored barns for the ceremony and reception. There is ample outdoor space for cocktail hour, lawn games, outside bar area, and, when the sun goes down – fire pits! The silo and handsomely painted barns are surrounded by tall trees and picturesque fences with so many different vignettes for wedding day photos.
When I asked the couple about why they chose Stoltzfus for their wedding day this was their reply:
“We have big bonfire parties every year on Halloween, where all of our friends and family members young and old come over to hang out by the fire, roast s’mores, and have a great time. We wanted a venue that reflected the bonfire parties – a rustic barn with a fire pit was the perfect fit!”
Stoltzfus Homestead has wonderful accommodations for the bride to get ready. The suite was roomy and comfortable for the entire wedding party. There was a room for make-up and a separate room for the bride, which helped keep some space that was neat and tidy for the bride to put on her dress and do some pre-wedding portraits.
The groom had his own space for getting ready with the groomsmen and then it was off to the first look!
Once the bride and groom were dressed and ready, they did a first look and see each other before the ceremony. We found a shady spot next to the ceremony barn to soak in this special moment.
Here is the story of how they met and how he proposed:
“We met when we were teenagers working at a local grocery store. We’ve been together for the past 16 years. We were engaged during a trip the Grand Tetons, right on Jenny Lake. He wrote his proposal in a journal that we’ve kept since we were teens, which still has goofy doodles and little love notes from many year ago.”
Their ceremony was in one of the lovely Stoltzfus barns with pretty natural light. The inside of the barn has been painted white for a fresh clean look. A beautiful floral arrangement and artfully draped fabric were hung around the altar, adding just the right amount of thoughtful decor to their ceremony.
Their cocktail hour was so much fun. The expansive grassy lawn between the barns was the perfect place for their guests to mingle. They sipped on their signature drinks and tasty appetizers while playing lawn games, chatting at cocktail tables for lounging in Adirondack chairs. It felt leisurely and relaxed – just what the couple had envisioned for their Stoltzfus Homestead wedding.
When asked about their vision for their wedding day, this is how they described it:
“We didn’t want any formalities in our wedding – after the ceremony we really just wanted people to relax and have a good time. I think the sentimental aspect was removing formalities to give time for less structure and more party time between our favorite people. And of course, having our pup Daisy at the wedding is super important to us.”
All of the spaces at the venue are beautifully restored, but the reception barn may be my favorite. The long farmhouse tables and the warmth of the post and beam wooden structure embody rustic elegance. The draping fabrics that hang from the ceiling with the accent of twinkling strings of lights adds a festive feeling to the ceremony space at Stoltzfus.
I love the contrast of the rustic wooden barn and the modern and fun neon “Better Together” sign. It was perfect for the bride and groom and guests to take photos in front of during the reception.
The couple chose to have a full spread of delicious BBQ as their wedding meal and it was an amazing buffet of all the comfort foods you could want. Instead of a traditional cake for their wedding, they decided to treat their guests to a food truck serving amazing cupcakes. Lancaster Cupcakes did not disappoint with their delicious sweets!
As the sun was setting, the party was just getting started! Guests were getting down on the dancefloor, gathering around the firepit, and indulging in their special whisky and cigar bar.

“A friend recommended we reach out to Heidi as our wedding photographer and we’re SO glad we did. She somehow captured every moment throughout the day, communicated clearly during the planning stages (and multiple rescheduling/venue changes during COVID!), and was very upfront about her style/workflow. The photos were high quality, we had plenty to choose from, and everyone was captured in at least one photo. She delivered per her timeline too – we got our photos weeks after the wedding along with a cute gold thumb drive. We could not have gotten better support or photos from anyone else and would readily recommend her regardless of the style you’re going for. Heidi is flawless, will clearly direct you on what to do (or work with your preferences) – thank you, Heidi!!!”
