This Joseph Ambler Inn ceremony was idyllic. Located on Horsham Rd in North Wales, PA, this restaurant, Inn, and wedding venue is peaceful and charming. It seems to attract couples looking for a tranquil venue with inside and outside spaces for their ceremony and tons of pretty places for wedding photos. When I asked this couple how they knew that Joseph Ambler Inn was “the one,” here is what they shared: “We loved the rustic vibe of the venue and everything it offered. We wanted a low-stress wedding and the fact that Jooseph Ambler Inn included everything from catering to options for overnight accommodations made it a no-brainer.” There are definitely a lot of benifts to choosing this venue. They are a seasoned venue and you get wonderful care throughout the planning of your wedding day. This couple also had some advice to share with others going through the wedding planning process, and I would have to agree that it is some pretty sound advice: “Don’t stress! Give yourself plenty of time, and enjoy the process. Everything will come together and it’ll be the perfect day with the person you love, no matter if some little details go wrong. And don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.”
The Thomas Wilson House has a bridal suite downstairs, but I often bring the bride upstairs to the living room area for a few getting-ready photos because I love the historic feel of the room in the Thomas Wilson House and the lovely natural light coming in through the windows. I always enjoy the wedding details photos for the bride and groom. Being able to capture the rings and invitations, the flowers and the shoes all the things the thoughtful touches that make the day even more special.
Because it was a beautiful day, we were able to step outside onto the tree-lined path for the bride and groom to see each other for the first time on the wedding day. I love these sweet moments that happen before walking down the aisle of their Joseph Ambler Inn ceremony.
This bride and groom could not stop smiling on their wedding day, and the feeling was contagious!
It is always so interesting to learn how a couple met. How their paths crossed and what led them to exchanging vows and taking the next step into marriage together.
“We actually met on one of our first days in college at Drexel! The university was hosting an event for incoming freshmen, and a friend from high school introduced us. We became instant friends and started dating shortly after!”
As told by the groom:
“I’ve known for years that I was going to marry her. She’s the most caring, funny, and enjoyable person, and I just knew that she had to be my wife. Even though I knew we would get married, I never would have imagined I would be proposing in one of the craziest years of our lives. Nevertheless, I wasn’t going to let a little thing like a global pandemic delay what had been a long time coming. We had booked a trip to go to the Grand Canyon – yes, you read that right, ME hiking outside in desert temperatures – she has always wanted to go. Unfortunately, our plans came to a screeching halt, and we had to cancel. I spent my time in quarantine wondering how I would change the plan. Do I wait until we can go to the Grand Canyon some other time? Do I just propose in the living room? The latter wasn’t an option because the living room is a mess, and the former could be years! Finally, I decided I would propose when we would have been in the Grand Canyon, with a little bit of help. My sister asked my girlfriend and me to help her take some photos for a “class” she had. We all met at Tyler State Park and my girlfriend got her wish for us to be hiking around on a beautiful day in the great outdoors. We walked and walked as my sister took some photos of the scenery, until at last we came upon the massive hill that my girlfriend wanted us to see. She said it would be perfect for Cameron’s photos! Little did she know that the whole time she had been leading us to her very own engagement location. I had a grand vision of all the things I would say, but that all went out the window in the moment, so as I knelt upon a particularly sharp rock, I asked, “Will you marry me?”
The outside Joseph Ambler Inn ceremony on the front lawn at this historic PA wedding venue is peaceful and lovely. Being outside in the company of friends and family who have traveled from near and far to witness this special moment and commit in love is a moment that is truly unmatched.
After the outside ceremony and cocktail hour, it was time to head inside to the welcoming reception space for the seated dinner, toasts, dancing, and celebrating! The details, including the bride and groom’s signature drinks, the centerpieces on the tables, and the beautifully decorated wedding cake, all made for a thoughtful and personalized party.
There are many emotional moments on a wedding day, but the dances at the reception often get me. The sweetness of the newlyweds twirling on the dance floor is something special to behold. Parent dances also carry their own intergenerational tenderness and full circle moment feel that touches everyone’s heart who witness.
Once all the formalities of speeches and dances and toasts are done, it’s time to take to the dance floor and let loose. This couple had a great time dancing with their loved ones and each other at their Joseph Ambler Inn wedding reception.

This couple shared a kind review on their experience working with Heidi Roland Photography on their wedding day:
“I cannot say enough good things about working with Heidi for our wedding!! She is so organized, fun, professional, and responsive – our day wouldn’t have been the same without her. From our engagement photos to the day of, she made sure everything ran smoothly (and on time…even the bridal party and family photos!) and that everyone was comfortable. She gave enough direction to make posing easy but also natural and not forced. Our photos came out even more beautiful than we expected! 100/10 would recommend!!”
