Philadelphia Boat Wedding

This couple had a Moshulu Boat Wedding in Philadelphia. Their wedding celebration was aboard this welcoming boat that is docked(permanently) on the shores of the Delaware River in the city. Both their ceremony and reception were on the Moshulu. This unique wedding venue also made the perfect backdrop for their couple’s photos and family photos.

Here are some of the factors that came into play and were most important to the couple when selecting their wedding venue:

“We knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony/reception, and we loved that we could have that without a rain plan at the Moshulu. The space just feels effortlessly beautiful. We wanted The wedding to feel airy and outdoors but still part of the city. We love that you can see the river to one side and the skyline to the other. We want our guests to feel laidback and casual. It was important that the wedding feels fun and informal.”

The Couple Made Their Own Wedding Bands

Instead of purchasing wedding bands that were already made, this couple decided to make their own!
At Heidi Lowe Gallery there is an option where a couple can spend the day in Heidi’s gallery and make your own wedding bands. I had never heard of this before and I absolutely love this idea! It adds even more meaning to the symbol of the rings.
Here is what the bride and groom had to say about their experience:
“It was honestly an amazing experience. We picked our metals and general styles for the rings. We did every step of the process, from sizing the metal pieces to soldering to polishing. Wedding bands are inherently very sentimental objects, but doing all of the work ourselves added a whole new layer to that. Since the workshop was just me, Ryan, and our instructor, it sort of felt like we were able to add love and positive energy to the rings. Heidi Lowe is a jeweler out of Lewes, Delaware, so we drove down from Philly for the day. She has more info on her website, and she has a post with some photos of us on her Instagram. “

How They Met and Proposal Story

“We met on a dating app and went on our first date at a dive bar the very first night Zoe moved to Philadelphia. Three-ish years later Ryan proposed at the Wissahickon Valley Park as a stranger snapped pictures with an old Polaroid camera.”

What a sweet story! This couple also decided to do their engagement photos at in the Wissahickon.

Moshulu Wedding Ceremony Philadelphia

I love the setup for their ceremony. Stil covered but offering amazing waterfront views gives you the best of both worlds.

Moshulu Boat Wedding Reception Philadelphia

After cocktail hour it was time for the reception to begin. The bride and groom were introduced in front of their gathered friends and family and then the couple went right into their lovely first dance.

End of Night Couples Photo on the Moshulu

As dusk was settling in we went out to the deck to enjoy the views and get some fun end-of-night photos of the bride and groom. Being on the deck of the ship offers unique and beautiful spaces for photos and I just love night photos!

Couple’s Review

“As someone who isn’t really comfortable in front of a camera, I was shocked at how easy and fun it was to work with Heidi. She shot both our engagement session and our wedding, and both resulted in photos that we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives. The engagement photos came back about a week after the session, and our wedding photos took about 3.5 weeks. I was a bit nervous that being professionally photographed would take me back to sitting for high school yearbook photos, but instead it felt so natural to be there. Heidi made it easy to just be in the moment on our wedding day, and I really got to enjoy time with my husband before our ceremony – she truly made the whole thing a stress-free experience. From the moment I saw Heidi, I didn’t have to make any more decisions. We felt totally at ease being led around by Heidi, partly because she got to our venue early to take shots and scout locations, and partly because she’s really that capable. I’m so so happy we hired her for our day.”
